Chloe

Otzi designed and crafted a collection of handcrafted furniture for Chloé stores worldwide.

Under the stewardship of Gabriella Hearst, Chloé approached the workshop to design and produce 200 pieces for over 30 stores, including daybeds, paravent screens, nesting table sets and armchairs. Otis used locally native hardwood timbers such as London plane, olive ash, elm and sycamore, locally sourced from managed woodland in East Anglia, and paired them with neutral linens and undyed oak bark tanned bridle leathers.

The furniture pieces showcased traditional exposed joinery; with knots, features and heavy grain kept in and carefully machined to produce a characterful but refined aesthetic. Leathercord was used widely throughout the collection. It has incredible strength but is visually light and has a timeless quality to it. The tables used large panels of undyed oak bark leather in combination with careful contrast stitching and lacing, highlighting the handwork and crafted details with a minimalist undertone.

The result was a muted but rich and tactile ensemble that complimented Chloe’s natural and organic clothing collections, with themes of sustainability, quality and craftmanship at their core.

The pieces are still used at their showrooms around the world today, almost 5 years on, highlighting the quality of the work and both brands’ prioritisation of sustainability, craftsmanship, and timeless aesthetics.
